New Hire Onboarding

Congratulations and welcome to the University of Pittsburgh! We are excited to add you as a valued member of our community. As you begin your journey with the University, there are several steps that must be taken, from accepting the offer to finalizing new hire and payroll information, prior to your first day.

Your onboarding takes place in Talent Center, the University's system for hiring and onboarding employees. After accepting a verbal offer with the University, you will receive an email to formally accept an E-Offer. You will complete this E-Offer, as well as other vital employment information, in Talent Center. 

Ready to get started? Review the instructions for onboarding based on your employee type. For example, if you were hired as a part-time staff member, please review the "Staff" section to understand the steps necessary for your new hire process.

Employee Type

Faculty

  • After verbally accepting your appointment, you will need to accept and complete the E-Offer that was sent to your email (this takes place in Talent Center).
    • To access and complete this paperwork, please log into Talent Center.
      • Turn off any pop-up blockers on your web browser. 
    • If you did not apply through Talent Center, please use the Username in the Welcome email and select 'Forgot Password' on the login page. Please follow the directions in the Welcome email and Forgot Password email.
  • After electronically initialing the first page of the E-Offer, you'll proceed with completing the new hire and payroll documents in the E-Offer.
  • Once that is complete you may recieve additional emails for onboarding, depending on your type of hire. Please follow the instructions in those emails to ensure you are completing all the necessary documents.

Postdoctoral Associates and Other Academics 

  • After verbally accepting your appointment, you will need to accept and complete the E-Offer that was sent to your email (this takes place in Talent Center).
    • To access and complete this paperwork, please log into Talent Center.
      • Turn off pop-up blockers on your web browser.

Your First Day and Beyond

Once you start employment, you will gain access to Pitt Worx, the University's human resources and payroll system. In Pitt Worx, you can submit time cards, review pay statements, edit tax, information, and review other personal details that relate to you as an employee at Pitt.
